In order to bring about innovative development in educational strategies, integrated curriculum and assessment methodologies Faculty development has become an increasingly important component of medical education. Certificate program in Health Professions Education (CHPE) of Sohail University, is an integrated program in which learners will learn about nuances of teaching and assessment of all the three domains of learning, i.e. knowledge, psychomotor skills and affects. CHPE program is one of the requirements of PMDC for promotion to a higher level. The CHPE program of JMDC is affiliated with Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU).
For Knowledge: The students will be assessed through Assignments (03) related to major/important themes.
For Skill and attitude: There will be an assessment on the ongoing small group activities, attendance and attitude of each student during the contact session. These activities will be recorded through assessment Performa based on checklists, rating scales and video recording or direct observation of their teaching sessions followed by a reflection of the participants and constructive feedback by the peers and teachers.
Any candidate obtaining less than 60% marks i.e. in the cumulative exam (40 %) and assignments (60%) will be considered as fail. There is no re sit exam. The candidate failing will have to repeat the whole program

It will serve as a foundation course for Junior Faculty members who wish to take up Medical Education as a career choice in future.
Some important aspects regarding the Certificate program in Health Professions Education are as follows:
The course is designed to train health professionals /teachers in basic concepts and principles of Medical Education. They will be able to demonstrate the competencies of an effective teacher/ tutor/facilitator and enhance their basic knowledge in teaching and assessment. Each such session will have tests to evaluate the level of competencies acquired. Feedback is an essential requirement for reflection and revisit of the errors.
First session is for MBBS and BDS faculty exclusively. Teaching faculty of medical and allied health sciences i.e. medical doctors, dentists, physical therapists, pharmacists, nurses.
